VIN question

Featured Replies

Ok, so was fitting some new mats today so thought I would look at the vin stamped next to the drivers side, I found that a few numbers/letters had surface rust on them from a damp carpet. Please note I DO mean surface rust, the floorpan is completely solid, its literally from the damp carpet, the area around that is bone dry and as new. However I can see the number/letters there but there are not really readable anymore, I have cleaned the area and put some kurust on to stop any further surface rust and I am currently drying the area that is damp but its unlikely those numbers will ever be legible again.

Where do I stand with this? The vin plate is intact and untouched on the door and the windscreen area. Am I ok leaving the floor one as it is? I have read you can have entire floors changed and its classed as a minor repair and doesn't need to be restamped but just want to be sure. I don't have my phone this week so won't be posting pictures.

No-one will ever look anyway, it's not an issue.
