DTC Error - MOT Fail

Featured Replies

Hey all,

So for some reason my 2015 Zetec S has decided hill start assist isnt available (error on engine start). I've disabled this via the head up menu and now there's no visual warning, however there's a DTC on the ABS module for it.

I'm pretty sure MOTs dont include connecting diagnostic stuff but just wanted to check as mine going in on Sat!

Cheers

You're fine mate, the MOT definitely doesn't include connecting any sort of ODB2 reader and on more recent cars as long as certain dashboard lights such as ABS or EML aren't permanently lit then you're sorted.

Hi, on my last mot they tried connecting their fault reader to my 02 Mondeo, but as its not OBD2 compliant, it wouldn't connect, which flummoxed them a bit, BUT they'd never tried to before, so as new mot rules came in last April anyway its probably a new thing. You could enquire before taking it in for the test.

I am sure they are not required to connect a fault code reader to the car for the MOT.

Thanks all, yeah passed fine, also sorted the codes by doing a relearn of the ABS module 🙂
