Cheap Focus MK1 front discs/pads

Featured Replies

Hi Guys. Some very cheap ones on the bay and Euro car parts (Eicher). Are they any good?I do 4000 miles a year. Just wondered if they were a bit too cheap.

I've had Eicher discs and pads on my MK2.5 before, and I can honestly say I had them on the front for nearly 3 years and didn't have any problems what so ever, I would even say I had less brake dust from them than I do for my current set up, Pagid discs and TRW ceramic pads.

I have seen a lot of bad comments on forum about the eicher stuff but I put them on my sisters fiesta and there were no problems.

Cheers Guys. Good I was thinking cast metal is cast metal isn’t it? Maybe buy cheaper discs and get more expensive pads is the way to go I’m thinking?

I've had to replace several Eicher discs for warping, and find the pads are very hard, so little dust but also little braking performance, avoid them at all costs now!

Also had loads of problems with Brembo's, squeaky, dusty rubbish.

If buying from ECP, I just stick with Pagid myself.  Only had to replace one disk due to warping (and it was 4 years old), they come painted so don't rust around the edges/hubs and have a break in coating on the pads which helps bedding in too.

If you just want a cheap set to get through MOT before selling the car then Eicher might be worth the risk if they're considerably cheaper.  Also worth checking carpartsforless as they're generally cheaper than ECP.

+1 for what @TomsFocus said.  I've also found Eicher to be :shit:, in terms of the brand that ECP stock I'd say go with Pagid.  Definitely don't get Bosch discs, they rust last a b***ard, the middle section of the disc ends up looking :shit: after just 3-4 months.

Pagid is my go to brake company, used OEM on several cars.
