Hi all,

Does anyone know how to remove the decorative and cluster surround trim on the MK8?

The reason is to get to the APIM module behind the screen.

Many thanks.

There is a separate trim panel behind the screen which you can remove with a suitable tool. Once that is out you can then detach the screen.

Hi Paul, can I ask, has the APIM / sceen failed ?  Only I worry about this part of the car failing just outside of warranty as mine's been a bit on the flakey side.

Replacing the APIM is a 1-2 hour job, it's not that difficult and APIMs are readily available. If it fails, I'm quite sure it can be fixed with Forscan, if not you can buy APIMs for under £200

Hi, anyone have a guide or instructions on how to remove the APIM? Need access to fit the reverse camera wire. Thanks!

Behind the screen is a small piece of black plastic with two tabs from which you can use to pull the plastic off. Unscrew the three hex bolts, and then take the screen off. You pull the edges off around the black carbon around the dash, I forgot the specific way to pull it off but there's 4 golden 'latches' which you have to make sure don't fall off, or if they do you put them back on. Then, the dash has some more screws, and 2 latches if I remember correctly you push in and then pull the cluster out. I didn't unplug the dash because certain cars require reprogramming if you take it out. Maybe someone who's done the job more recently can correct any mistakes I've made.
