Should I use wire connectors or electric tape is ok

Recommended Posts

Hey, just fitted face lift taillights.

I joined the wires for now together the old fashioned way and out tape on it.

I have always wondered, what is the benefit from those wire connector blocks, should I bother?

I know they look nicer and are arguably more secure and what not.

Ideally those twisted joints should be soldered . If you're going to tape them use self amalgamating tape which is waterproof or better still shrink sleeving.

But really you should use proper connectors eg bullet type or blade. Connector blocks are OK but again not a proper job.

No they shouldn't, in time the soldered points will break due to vibration use a connector block or Butt Splices or FASTON Terminals

Never happened to me. Depends who and how its soldered and wires are anchored . Also I've had 2  motorhomes and they had numerous soldered joints.

I suppose I could solder them, I do have the iron, but yeah probably just buy the connectors.

I just always wondered does it matter that much, I don't think they could come apart from vibration.
