2004 1.8 petrol C-Max intake manifold

Featured Replies

Hi,

Took the manifold off yesterday to renew the pcv valve and hose, as a first step to curing the oil consumption and smoking issues. (Not successful as I had the wrong valve, needed the 90° one rather than the straight one!)

One thing which was apparent though is the amount of soot and oil traces in the manifold, from the inside of the throttle body down. I assume that the short stub of pipe poking out of the head into the start of the manifold is the EGR outlet?

My thinking is that the burning oil is depositing this soot, does this sound about right? Is it still worth going ahead with the pcv valve, or does it sound more ominous.

Finally, after re-assembling it all (need to use the car for work before the new valve appears, I noticed that I had one connector unaccounted for - it's a 2 pin connector on the same short stem that the throttle body connector is on. I can't find any matching connector for within its radius - its obviously had a replacement, ex-scrappy, throttle body fitted at some stage, and wondered if it might be related to the original body?

Thanks all, and stay safe

Gary
