In need of help regarding lowering my MK2 with Eibach Pro-Kit (2.0 Duratec-HE)

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

I would like to lower my Focus (second generation; pre-facelift model), but I need your help, advices, suggestions... regarding that.

I want to fit Eibach Pro-Kit (-30 mm), but I would like to know what should I be aware of before I buy it? Also, what is the correct process of ftting the springs?

These are my Focus' specifications:

Date of production: 2nd of May 2006
Engine: 2.0i 16V Duratec-HE; 107 kW
Transmission: Manual; 5+R
Body: 5-door hatchback
Trim: Ghia
Wheels and tyres: OEM 7x17 wheels (from facelift Titanium model) with OEM tyres dimensions 205/50/17

OEM Bi-Xenon (I have automatic light beam leveling); Does it have any effect on springs choice or do the springs have any effect on automatic leveling?

ETIS states:

- With Standard Suspension
- With Standard Rear Shock Absorbers

Do I need to provide you with any extra information?

As far as I know, all the petrol models (1.4, 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0) have the same Eibach Pro-Kit springs, while all the diesels (1.6, 1.8 and 2.0) have the same Eibach Pro-Kit springs. Is that correct?

I would also appreciate the correct catalogue code of springs for my Focus or direct selling links.

Thank you in advance and cheers!

P. S. English is not my first language, so hopefully you will be able to understand everything.

There isn't really anything to be aware of when fitting the Eibach Pro Kit, it's a simple swap and won't cause any rubbing issues like a bigger drop in ride height might.

You can put your details into the Eibach site to find the correct kit but I think it's this one - https://www.eibachshop.co.uk/eibach-prokit-performance-spring-kit-e10350160122_p31223305.htm

Lowering the whole car shouldn't have any effect on the auto-levelling headlights.  They use sensors to work out the difference in height between front and rear.  As you're lowering both ends by 30mm it won't introduce any extra height difference.  Be careful not to snap the levelling arm on the wishbone while working in that area.

Regarding the actual process, you're probably best off watching YouTube videos on that.  For the fronts you need to unbolt the shock/strut from both the hub and the car, remove it completely.  Compress the spring, remove top nut and top mount, swap springs over and then refit in reverse.  For the rear, you need to unbolt the rear wishbone/lower arm to remove the spring.  These bolts are notorious for rusting, seizing and snapping so care does need to be taken there.

Hope that helps, feel free to ask anything else...

Thanks, Tom!

When it comes to the process itself, I will definitely be taking the car to a specialized garage where a mate of mine works. I don't have the tools to do it in my own garage.

After fitting the Pro-Kit, I'm aware that I will have to do the wheel alignment. Currently, when I'm doing the alignment, the program gives me two options: "standard suspension" and "sports suspension". So far, the the mechanic was always choosing the "standard suspension" option. So, after fitting the Pro-Kit, should I still use that option or should I go with "sports suspension" option?

Is it really going to handle better or just look better? 😄 Because right now as I see it, no car comes close to Focus, in its class, when it comes to handlong. I also had the 2002 MK1.5 Focus (5-door hatch, 1.8 TDCi, 85 kW) and it was a keen handling car!

Good question!  Setting it as sports suspension might help it handle corners a bit better, but you might find a bit more tyre wear and it feel a bit more 'twitchy' in a straight line.  It's really up to you tbh, there won't be a massive difference between the two.

As for handling better...it should do, but I never lowered my own Mk2 Focus haha!  I have used the Eibachs on other cars with good results though.

Hello everyone,

This will be a bit longer post, but please be patient me with as I want to clarify some things.

So, after inserting my car characteristics in their website, I have ordered Eibach Pro-Kit from the official Eibach shop (this one exactly: https://eibachshop.com/index.php?p382,eibach-pro-kit-springs-ford-focus-ii-focus-ii-saloon). It will be at my address in a few days.

It says that the product code is E10-35-016-01-22 and that the front springs are F11-55-008-02-VA and that the rear springs are F11-35-016-01-HA

So far so good, but, after I open the first certificate (ABE1035016) it says that the F11-55-008-02-VA are not for Focus ST and not for 2.0 petrol (which is my engine). It states that the 2.0 petrol should use same front springs as all diesels (F11-35-014-02 VA). Please check out the fifth page of that certificate - https://eibachshop.com/download/ABE1035016.PDF

After I open the second certificate (E1035016) it says that F11-55-008-02-VA are for all petrol engines (except for ST). Please check out the third page - https://eibachshop.com/download/E1035016.PDF

So, which certificate is correct? According to the first one, I my front springs aren't correct and according to the second they actually are correct.

How come their search engine gives me F11-55-008-02-VA code for my car, bur first certificate says those are not for 2.0 petrol and then the second certificate says that they acutally are?

Upon searching a bit more, UK Eibach shop says that they are correct - https://www.eibachshop.co.uk/info-part-list?make=FORD&model=FOCUS II (DA_%2C HCP%2C DP)&spec=2 2004-07 - 2012-09   and https://www.eibachshop.co.uk/info-part-list?make=FORD&model=FOCUS II (DA_%2C HCP%2C DP)&spec=2 2005-06 - 2008-09

Also, official eibach.de catalogue says that they are correct for my car - http://web2.carparts-cat.com/default.aspx?34=0,2047566&240=0&32=18304&230=29&1271=48&1272=67ad8a87-872d-46de-813d-6ae72f2c33c5&1273=1&10=41C0C8660C9F43FDAE0F785D19994E6E279015&14=4&12=130

Please, can somebody clarify me why does the table in first certificate says that the F11-55-008-02-VA front springs are not for 2.0 petrol, while all the other links state that they acutally are?

Thank you for your patience and I'm looking forwards to your answers.

P. S. The rear springs are correct.
