DrewMorris
Hi everyone,聽 New to the forum 馃憢 I've recently bought my first Ford - Focus MK2 1.6 TDCi and it's also my first diesel so getting used to that too.聽 In the last 2 weeks or so I've heard a whistling from the engine when accelerating, but only up to 2000RPM. After investigating I聽found the whistling was coming from the very front of the engine (presumably the turbo) and only happens for about 10 minutes after first starting the engine.聽 I've checked around the turbo and air filter and cant see any聽cracks/splits that would contribute to the whistling.聽 I did some reading online and found it could possibly be dirty/thick oil that is not lubricating correctly until it has warmed up and that's why it could be stopping after 10 minutes of running.聽 The car has done聽90k and service history is minimal so defintely worth draining the oil and replacing along with the oil filter anyway.聽 Does anybody have any other suggestions on what this could be or has anybody had anything similar?聽 聽
Theshed
Hopefully you already sorted this. But, definitely start with oil change. Remove pipe from turbo and spin the impeller fan, feel for any sideways movement. Probably best checking You tube videos, but excess movement usually means new Turbo time.
