Just lifted the bonnet and found a rubber pipe lying near the washer bottle. About 25cm’s X 1cm wide, with a hole through it. The pointy bit is removable.     Was anything done other than a service. That looks like one of the rubber vacuum hoses with adapter on the end that is part of the mity-vac vacuum/pressure kit that techs use.

    Thank you for getting back so quick. I have the Ford service plan with MOT. Even though it’s only done 30,000 it’s having the bigger services.  I imagined it might have been something to do with the washer. Your photo explains all. Top man for getting back to me.

    Some techs use it to suck diesel fuel through the lines when a fuel filter has been changed .
