Check to see if the maf sensor is dirty if so give it a Clean. If not it could be maf failure so Check it.  If that's fine then it may be an air leak. If not can be a problem with the maf Wiring. Finally if all else is fine it could be a clogged cat.

Thanks I’ll try those how can you unclog a cat?

Not sure u can would have to be replaced.

"it does try to restart but doesn’t sound like it’s cranking".

I don't understand what this means. Not cranking means starter motor not turning engine,  which is not trying to restart.

have you cleared all codes and see which ones come back? you always need to do this otherwise you often get some red herrings.

Some cars (dont know about yours specifically) use a default MAF setting if the MAF is unplugged. Sometimes the default is better than what it gets from a faulty MAF so you could try it with MAF unplugged if there is reason to think MAF is causing the problem.

It makes the generic ford sound like its trying to crank but nothing happens engine wise it doesn’t try to crank it just says maximum attempts exceeded after a handful of attempts I’ve attempted to clean sensors etc unplug Maf sensor and try and tried codes a few times still same ones really baffling
