Whooshing air noise when accelerating (not whistling nor screeching noise)

Featured Replies

Hello , I have a Ford Focus MK2 , 2004, 2.0TDCi.
Since I've had the car , I've noticed when I accelerate I hear a pretty loud whooshing air noise. As if you're blowing air out your mouth. I want to make it clear that it isn't a whistling noise or any sort of screeching.
The more I accelerate the more air whooshing I hear, so that makes me thing something turbo related ? Or a pipe of some sort has a hole ? ( I drive 80% highway , and rev the car up to 4000rpm for multiple minutes to clean out turbo at least once every couple of weeks)
I also feel like I have noticed it even more recently and I feel like the car doesn't pull hard in the first 2350 rpm, only once it reaches that rpm i feel some sort of pull. So maybe some loss of boost/power too. (I can't clarify the loss of power, maybe it's my mind playing tricks).

However I do need to sort this issue out , while I am at home and have the time.
I checked the air filter cover, but that's tightened down well. Everything seems good and tight, nothing loose.

I would appreciate some help with this and suggestions on what I can do.
I have a lot of tools to work on anything.

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like a split intercooler hose to me.

I just double checked the intercooler piping , both sides. And they seem healthy, doesnt seem like there are any splits. (There is a small chance tho I may have missed something, but I doubt it).
I also tightened all ends with hose clamps. Gave them an extra 2 turns. Will have to test and see if it helped. But I doubt it.

I had same on my car no boost car was ok till I tried to over take people car would just die for a spit 2nd it was down to this pipe
