Hi all, hope all well and hope someone can help me!

Just purchased and will be restoring an xr3i mk3 during this lockdown to keep me busy...Have the reg number/original number plates and etched in all windows but half the floor numbers rotted/missing and plate under bonnet gone due to new front panel at some point. How can i find out the vin number or is this impossible now days?

No logbook. Done a hpi but wont show VIN.

Also mot check wont either and cant apply for the logbook without the VIN.

Any advice be most appreciated.

Give this a try-

1. Go to http://www.247spares.co.uk/
2. Enter the registration number
3. If the details are correct right click on the screen and select "View page source"
4. Press CTRL + F and search for VIN
5. Copy the VIN number and go to http://www.decodervin.pl/

Then you should get all the information you need.

**Update**

In case anyone else has this problem finding there out there VIN number. I simply went into my MOT centre and he kindly gave me my VIN number at same time when i explained the above problem. Simples. No silly links or HPI checks that wont work and a DVLA who couldnt give a **** (as i found out after an hour on the phone)

Keep safe peeps!

Hah, never thought about that. I used to check car history via vingurus VIN check previously but never thought to go to MOT center. But I'm not sure that your way is much faster.

Hey! Before buying a car, I checked its Vin code on the Epicvin website. Everything is simple and fast. With the help of the Vin code, you can check the factory data of the car, such as: make, model of car, year of manufacture or model year, volume and type of engine, body type, country of origin, assembly plant, etc. For some cars, even equipment items are shown. I recommend.
