ECU LIGHT: Cam Shaft Sensor Alert (focus)

Featured Replies

2006 Focus 1.6 petrol

ECU light showing cam shaft sensor error will not turn off come what may despite changing the ***** sensor !?!?!?

The car's in limp mode & has no guts. If I get it turned off then the car drives perfectly again for a day or so until the ECU light comes back on & any mechanic ends up shrugging his shoulders !?

Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated !

Thanks

Try changing the Crankshaft sensor. The PCM may not distinguish very well between the two sensors and give a misleading DTC.  Failing that could be the wiring that's at fault.

Not sure if you have a digital or a analogue sensor, but you need to get a waveform reader on it to check the signal. If the signal has a lot of noise you could have a faulty alternator, Then you need to get a reading from the alternator to confirm. Another potential cause is that it's heat related with dodgy wiring. It's a pain to diagnose this one but you need to get readings and/or exact error codes.

Could also be the crankshaft sensor being dodgy despite being changed, or if there was an additional fault that killed it.
