Turning Child Lock Off Without Key

Featured Replies

Hi,

I've just bought a 2014 Focus Titanium and it only has they entry fob, not the actual key but the child lock is on both doors. I was wondering if there anything else I can use to turn it or do I need to replace the key? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks, Aaron

Does it need a key or is it electronic and controlled from the drivers door? Note: I'm not familiar with the set up on the Focus.

Otherwise, the emergency key should be in the fob. Or consult your handbook.

As above, there's a key blade hidden in the fob, just pop the back cover off.

Assuming the child locks are manually operated, you don't need the key, any medium sized screw driver blade will operate the lock. Once you've found out where it is and how to rotate it, you'll find something you have handy in the car to do it.

Thank-you everyone! It was indeed within the fob and I feel sufficiently stupid. It doesn't seem to be able to turn it though, I'm not sure it isn't jammed somehow, I'll give it a shot with the screwdriver I think.

No worries.  The T bar of the hidden blade fits back into the fob to give you more leverage.
