wet floor driver side 2012 ford focus

Featured Replies

i had a wet floor a while ago driverside of my ford focus 2012. i had thought it was due to the heavy rain weather we were having at the time in the lead up to winter as i was getting in and out of my car alot in this wet weather and then failing to dry out as it wasnt warm enough. ive now dried out the floor and left it up to dry out any bits ive missed. ive left it over the last few weeks sat on the drive way and gone out to check again to find a puddle of water in the foot well (where the feet heater goes through to the rear seat). i have poured water over the windscreen of my car and can not see any coming through to the foot well. and the sides of the footwell where there is foam is not wet either. so i dont think its coming through the door. any one got any suggestions on where to look next?

Sometimes, water leaking through the scuttle panel below the windscreen drops down into the fresh air intake. It then accumulates in the base of the heater housing and runs out when you move or are parked in a certain direction. Check the pollen filter if you have one, and see if it's wet. This will give you a clue.

the pollen filter is dry. the only bits that are wet is the sound dampening under the pedals (but not up the side walls.) and the foam of the carpet (again not up the sidewalls.) it is just the flat bit of the floor but i cant see any water runs on the interior.

It's been known for a boot leak to find its way to the foot well through the channels. Dry it up and try pouring water over the hatch area.
