Ford Focus 2009 music remote control module not working

Featured Replies

Hi guys.

I own ford focus 2009 and the music control module attached to steering wheel doesn't work.

Do you think It might be a fuse? If so do you wknow which fuse it is?

The radio remote on the steering column is basically just a simple resistor switch assembly that is connected to the radio with just 2 wires. Every button on the switch assembly has a different resistance. Based on the resistance the radio can determine which of the buttons is pressed.

Because of the simplicity there are only a few possible causes of the problem:

1. The resistor switch assembly is defective.
2. There is a wiring defect.
3. The radio is defective.

Thank you very much for this information.

I think it must be number 1 or 2 as I have changer radio for one with android and it didnt work on either.

Would you know what's the easiest way to test if it's the switch that is defective?

Thanks

Bart
