Flat Battery then Temperature gauge reads max

Featured Replies

I have just had a very strange problem with my 2007 Ford Focus 1.8, Battery went flat (possibly with standing during lockdown) Tried to jump start it from other car, but battery was too flat, used a battery charger and after a few hours it started ok, now the temperature gauge is fully to the right reading max and the engine was cold, and the idling was at 2000 revs, any suggestions?

I would fully recharge the flat battery (when using charger disconnect the battery terminals) and try to start the car again. There is a possibility that at jump start something went wrong (depend how did you connect the jumper cables).

Thanks, it has now been charged up fully, after driving for a few miles, the engine management life has gone off, and the revs stable, but the temperature gauge is still flat out and the engine is not overheating.
