2010 Ford Focus 1.6 cdti revs running high

Hey I have a 2010 1.6cdti that is running high but when you put your foot on the brakes the revs come down to normal range and then go back up to running high when foot brake is released. It’s been in garage for a new egr, accelerator pedal and mechanic had a look at wiring but can’t find anything wrong. It’s still running high although driving abit better with the new egr. 
can anyone help me?

    Sounds like a leaking brake booster.

    Sorry got confused it was a brake pedal not accelerator pedal that had been done. Also when you have the brake pedal pressed in there is no revs on accelerator. Would the brakes still work fine if it was a leaky booster??
