Result!  After dealing with  Ford Credit and a very long phone call today I have been offered a £550 refund to cover my dissatisfaction with the lack of updates!   I’m still awaiting any comeback from Ford Executive.

Ford Credit had been advised that F9 should be available some time in June!

I am glad you managed to get a refund my Mk4 Focus had and still has problems the Sync 3 and F9 map update being one of them. The Executive office point blank refused a £500 refund and offered the usual free service which I refused. (not on Ford Credit) I had many months of emails and phone calls with the Executive office which achieved absolutely nothing.

Just letting you know guys that the F9 maps are available officially on Ford server...25GB. A friend of mine just confirmed me that after entering his VIN no. he was provided with the update (for a regular older SYNC3 with sw version 3.0)

Just checked my VIN still no update available

A 2019 will be Sync 3.3, Bannko said it was for 3.0, so pre MY18.5.

Just checked my 2017 and not showing up just yet, perhaps it's a phased roll-out.

Who knows, just you must be sure that after previous updates you have always loaded the generated XML file from the USB stick to the Ford website. Because only after this step the servers know what version are you running and what version should they propose you later when available.

Someone will probably capture the url of the update package at some point. (Not just the components, but the full update as will be offered to end users).

Yep, last update I uploaded the XML and it said everything was a success. Currently showing everything up-to-date, so hoping it just shows up over the coming days.

Well the excitement was just too much, only to be dashed when I checked!

no updates for my Focus MY18.5

I have a feeling that the F9 update won't be available for MY18.5 onwards vehicles for some time for same reason as many of us couldn't get F8. Hope I'm wrong but......

Hi,

anyone had any information from Ford on this appalling situation.?

any update news?

I've been reading this forum post https://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=de&u=https://www.ecosport-forum.de/index.php/Thread/1038-SYNC-3-Version-3-2-3-3-3-4-Kartenupdate-auf-F9/&prev=search&pto=aue .

The file links there are direct to the Ford servers and it does seem to suggest the F9 map files are compatible with 3.2 upwards. They're certainly the 'sliced' maps rather than the single large file.

If they are compatible it begs the question why haven't Ford just released the update, or do they really just not care?

Is anyone brave enough to try...

It's a bit of a normal software development timeline.

Files are finished and published to Ford servers

Probably a bunch of company owned cars are used as beta testers

The factory at the next MY change switches to the latest build, to further expand the rollout.

Ford then slowly adds car models and countries in a phased rollout to spread load on the servers and reduce how many customers with potential issues they have to deal with. They can also stop the rollout if issues arise that need urgent attention, it hasn't suddenly gone out to everyone.

The virus will have had a significant impact on this rollout, for two reasons. One is that the speed of development and testing has probably been affected, but also all of the dealers had been shut. The last thing you want to do, while people aren't using their cars so much anyway, is to release a software update with no dealer network to support any issues that arise.

I'm not defending how long it's taken because they could have had this out before the virus, I'm just trying to explain why files can become available before they are offered to customers, some of the thinking behind phased rollouts.

I'm as keen as the rest to get an update, my car is still running 18 month old Sync software and 2 yr old maps, 3.3, hasn't had an update in that time, like 3.0 and 3.4 has.

It will be coming, you could flash it early if you built your own package, it just always bothers me a bit, that there are real people developing this software, under the constraints and decisions of thier management.

Yeah they are open now, just it will have delayed things 🙂

I should hope it's soon. 🤞

From that forum linked above I've managed to update my Sync 3.0 to the latest 20092 build, and I'm currently downloading the maps etc to take it to F9. I'd have preferred to wait for the official Ford one but I'm also currently furloughed and impatient so I'll do them asap. Had to order a 64GB USB stick from Prime though as I didn't have anything above 16GB - d'oh!
