Auto Windows Closer Installation

Featured Replies

Hi All,

As my focus mk3.5 has no comfort module (electric windows only for driver and passenger) I want to install an automatic windows closer that, as says the specs of the module, will give the same features to that two windows as original comfort module. I doubt it, but at least I would like to have the capability to close the windows with the key button. I use to leave the window open and it's very annoying to open the door again, insert the key, close the window, and close the car again. So, I'd like to know if any of you has the wiring diagram for the button pad on the drivers door. Or If anyone installed this before and can explain me how to do it. Then one I want to install is this one:

TIA

Be aware that the standard electric window system (front electric windows only) do not have anti-pinch protection. When the windows are closed while something or someone becomes stuck the windows will not stop until the glass breaks or worse. Anti-pinch protection is mandatory for electric windows that can be closed remotely (global closing) or automatically by just a single press on the button (quick-up).

To be able to open/close the windows remotely using the keyfob you need to have a suitable signal to activate the aftermarket module. This will be the biggest challenge. The power signal to the door locks is not suitable. You preferably need a signal that activates the aftermarket module when the unlock/lock buttons are pressed for 10 seconds. As far as I am aware such a signal is only present on the car as CANbus communication. To use the CANbus signal you need an interface that converts the CANbus signal to a (power) signal that is suitable for activating the aftermarket module.

Everything is possible but be prepared that it will be a lot of work and effort to get the aftermarket module working correctly.

Yes, you are right... I din't though about the anti-pinch protection... They use to sell the product as easy to install and very reliable, but I doubt it. In any case, if I think about it... This device is connected to the UP and DOWN wire on each button, plus ground, but...how the "aftermarket" system get a signal to UP windows when door closes?. I suposse those are different circuits..

In any case, when closing the windows manually, I see that motor stops when window is at the end of the way up, although I continue pressing the button....

Many Thanks, @JW1982
