Blue smoke when hot

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have a 2008 1.6 tdci focus,

Sometimes when the car gets to operating temperature a lot of blue smoke tends to come out of the exhaust (more so when braking), and sometimes if I’m stopped at a junction I can’t take off as quick as normally,

then after awhile the temperature cools a small bit, the smoke stops and everything is back to normal. It passes the Nct and I’ve taken it to a garage a few times but it didn’t happen there,  so I’m just wondering has anyone else this problem or knows what causes it?
thanks in advance.

blue smoke is caused by the incomplete burning of oil [crankcase?] maybe leaking past the valve stems

I'm wondering if your turbo is on its way out and the oil seals are worn
