Wynn's Air Intake & Carb Cleaner PN 54179 Stupid Question

Hi All,

I was wondering if I can use 'Wynn's Air Intake & Carb Cleaner PN 54179': https://www.wynns.eu/product/air-intake-and-carburettor-cleaner/ to clean the carbon deposit deposits of my diesel injectors?

The can states it for PETROL ONLY but all I won't to do is clean the carbon off the injectors, would this be ok or a MAJOR STUPID move?

Thanks in advance for your help,

Stophen.

It's not harmful to any plastic or rubber parts  As long as its not entering the engine in any way it should be fine. Would do a test patch first with a rag to be sure.

Petrol will be just as good a solvent but much cheaper if you've already got a can full for a lawnmower.

Carb cleaner also has a really strong spray, I'd be worried about pushing dirt back into the nozzles personally.

Thanks @TomsFocus & @F0CUE,

That's good to hear, it was manly for cleaning the main body of the injector which is covered in rust and other crud from when I got flooded earlier in the year.

I was just worried that as it was designed for petrol engines it would react somehow when I put everything back together.

Cheers,

Stophen.

P.S. Could I spray it on a rag and use it to wipe the inside of the injector tubes or would that be too close to the engine?

It won't do any harm to the engine, it'll just burn if it hasn't all evaporated by the time you re-assemble everything.  No different to using EasyStart.
