Focus Mk4 (Vignale) Towbar questions

Featured Replies

Hi - I need a towbar for my Focus Mk4 Vignale (Will be getting a small caravan soon)

I Need removable swan neck, 13 pin, dedicated wiring, and coding to enable all the integrated functions (Especially sway control). Most of the national fitters are coming in at around 700 to 800 fitted. Is this about the going rate? It is more than I expected.

Am I likely to get a better deal with a a local company - and if so, would anyone be able to reccomend a place in the south Cheshire/North Staffs area?
(Crewe - Nantwich - Sandbach - Congleton - Stoke-on-Trent sort of area)

Thanks all.

Wow that sounds a little expensive. It's the labour on the 13 pin custom wiring that costs, although I think I removable two bar and run up £250. I'm sure you could find a garage local that would do it for sub £500.

It does sound expensive.  Witter tow bars supply and fit in the region of £500-£600 depending on the type you want.  PF Jones sell the kit only at about £250 for the detachable ones, plus cost of wiring kit - I got mine from them and fitted myself which was easy though a bit fiddly.  That was a Mk 2 though and I'm guessing the electrics part is more complicated on the Mk4.  Not sure if Forscan allow the coding set up for the stability programme etc, I'd be surprised if it doesn't.  If it is new car there might be warranty issues if you don't professionally fit a Ford approved type  so keep that in mind.
