Frithstar
I have a 57 plate Ford Galaxy. All I want to do is disconnect the battery to reset the computer but to remove the negative terminal I have to pull the whole battery out (terrible design!). There is a bolt that I need to unscrew that attaches a cable from (what looks like the NEG terminal) to the metal frame adjacent to battery (I assume this is an earthing cable?) Looks like 10mm but for some reason there is a piece of metal that sticks out about half inch. I CAN'T SEEM TO FIND A FITTING TO REMOVE THIS BOLT?? My standard hex doesn't fit, I bought an extra long one and that didn't fit. Does anyone know which specific 10mm hex fitting I need to remove this strange bolt? Thanks 🙂
Frembrit
That sounds like the negative pole (that connects to the negative on the battery, it's used for attaching jumps leads, you should be able to use a deep socket to remove it.
rbrown3
Disconnect the positive instead, will give same result.
