Playing media via USB or SD card

Featured Replies

Hi everyone.

Recently purchased a 2015 1.5 TDCI Titanium, which has the SYNC2.

Am loving it so far but I'm having a few issues playing my own media, audiobooks and music etc. I have an honor play mobile which uses USB 3 and when I connect it says the media isnt valid and wont play any of the media I have on there. As a workround, I added some stuff to an SD card but I wasnt aware that the Sat Nav was on the existing SD card.

DOes anyone know if theres any way for me to get the USB connection to work? I've tried changing developer settings on the phone itself but not really sure what I'm looking for.

The other alternative I thought was adding some media to an SD Card and copying the sat neav data from the sat nav SD card onto the same card. Would that work?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Do you not have two sd slots or bluetooth streaming?

Satnav data is serial coded to the sd card so can't be copied over, rewritten or added to in any way (plus it uses about 30gb of the 32gb space).

Most just bung a load of music on an usb stick and play it from there.

I did think about that but I have a spare 64gb SD card. I was going to add the nav system in a folder and then other media in a seperate folder.

Is that not possible? Dont fancy trying it then ending up breaking something.

If not, I'll just go with the flash drive. Since I'll be adding audiobooks, would this method remember where I left off if I change to a different source?

Ford nav cards are protected by a licence file coded to the imbedded serial number of the sd card they are written on, just transferring the data will not work as the serial checksum will be invalid.
There are ways to change the serial licence but trying to add music to the sd card will not work as the card will not be indexed by the sync system so any media data will not be read anyway.
An usb stick is definitely the best way for you to go and will resume playback from the previous point.

Ok, I'll get myself a flash drive. Thanks for the help.

One final thing, is it easy to navigate the usb stick from the sync screen?
