2005 focus overheating, not thermo, or head or water pump

Featured Replies

Hello everyone

I have a ford focus 2.0l with an overheating issue.

I have checked and replaced the thermostat. I have checked the water pump and head. both are fine.

I have notice the fan does not come on at all. how and were do I check the sensors before determining the radiator fan is broken?

Thank you

Lyndon

if it was mine I might be tempted to wire up a dashboard switch so you can switch the radiator fan on and off when the temp gauge suggests it needs it. I have had two cars in the past where I did this because there was a problem with the fan not coming on automatically when it should.  I know people will say it is a bodge but if you use right amp rating switch and cable and fuse it can be done properly and puts you in control of the fan and saves the hassle of getting to the bottom of what the original problem was. If it's the difference between having the car with a problem and a car you can use then don't rule it out without consideration. I know it's far from ideal as you do need to switch it on sometimes. Some 950cc mk1 Fiestas had the fan on all of the time which seemed a bit daft to me as the fans must have worn out early (apart from stopping it warming up to the best temp)

search for post about an engine ecu fault that sends a dodgy temp, signal to the cluster.... u can bodge up a resistor to sort the display….

although not sure it affects your engine   good luck with search its a disaster ...use google
