Keyless key not detected

Featured Replies

I recently bought a 2013 Ford Focus Zetec S from auction, when I got the car the main car battery was disconnected. I reconnected the battery but the car will not detect the key and will not start the car or even lock/unlock the doors.

However if I was to remove the little cover on the side of steering wheel, insert the key and push the start button it will start the car up. But even then it would still pop up with a sign 'FordKeyless not detected'.

I changed the key battery hoping it would be a flat battery but still doing the same thing.

I am guessing the key fob would need resyncing?

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, I have a similar problem in that my fob/remote  stopped working. I presume the fob battery died due the lack of use as it is the spare for my Kuga. I cannot find out how to reprogram this. I too would like to find out how to do this without going to my local ford dealership.

From memory, depending on model, try pressing the stop/start button 8 times. It should go beep and then press any button on the key fob within 5-10 seconds. I know that works on some Ford cars but can't remember which, and I think newer models need a OBD reader and Forscan to do the programming.
