Do I get two or four brake pads?

Featured Replies

I'm ordering brake pads online it says 'brake pad set' does that mean for both front wheels or do I need to buy two sets? Some sites show a picture of fours pads but underneath it says 'one axle' (not clear that might mean one wheel or two?) while others just give the pic with four pads. Would be clearer if they would say this pad set is for one wheel or both. Don't know if this link works-  https://www.carparts4less.co.uk/brake-pads

Dont know why they can't make this clearer on websites for novices like me? Thanks

Link didn't work but here's the pads

Brake Pads

Brake pads supply the friction the discs need to stop your wheels. As a result, they play a vital role in your safety and that of others on the road. Swap worn pads with cheap, first-rate examples from Car Parts 4 Less.

There is more than one choice of part for your vehicle. Please select the correct ' Brake Pads ' by checking the 'Fitment Detail' tab.

you get four pads in a set because you have to change both sides each time you have to renew your pads

One axle includes 2 wheels, so 4 pads.

To make it more complicated, discs are generally sold as singles!!  So you need to select 2x discs, but only 1x pad kit...

You should also get some CeraTec to grease the backs and 'ears' of the pads, to reduce the risk of brake squeal - https://www.carparts4less.co.uk/p/pagid-ceratec-brake-lube-75ml-grease-526770250

I’ve messed up with that one on eurocarparts before, haha!

Thanks for the info I understand now some sites don't even allow you to buy one disc they add a second for you. So now I know what I need I did the sums and turns out four pads and two discs are costing me the same online as at my local motor factors around £75 so just going to collect today. Probably would have saved a bit by using the discount codes on the sites but what the hell. Thanks again for speedy replys

just in case anyone reads this in future. it would be considered very unsafe to change front brake pads or disc on one side of the car and not the other. if you did this it is extremely likely the brakes would pull the car to one side when braking and could easily cause an accident if you braked sharply

EuroCarParts (and the sister company CP4L) inflate the prices by an amount (ECP is usually 50% more expensive than it should be) then offer discount codes to make it seem like you're getting a bargain. The local motor-factors are generally cheaper and are more likely to get the correct part for your car.

Isetta please I'm not that stupid or anyone else on here? That's too pc. Luke4efc 100% but still had to return to local shop cause they gave me a 300mm disc for 2ltr even though I gave them my reg but I needed a smaller disc for my 1.6 I think 278 but it was only a round trip of twenty miles if I'd ordered online I'd be waiting maybe two weeks to get the correct disc sent out, but now all done and I can start to worry about the next ***** thing life has to throw at me I'm basically looking for time to think before I die
