1.6TDCi Thin Vail of Smoke from Behind the Engine Block near Cylinders 1 & 2

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I'm back again looking for some advice before taking my 1.6TDCi Ford Focus Mk2 down to my local Ford garage.

Recently I have notice a thin vail of smoke emanating from behind the engine block around the high pressure fuel pipes for cylinders 1 & 2. I can't see far enough down to pin point the origin but I wondered if the forum had any useful thoughts on the case of this?

I'm not getting any smoke from the exhaust on start up or when under load.

I'm getting an average 53 MPG.

I have recently changed the injector seals and I'm wondering if moving the high pressure pipes has cracked something..?

All and any suggestions would be very welcome!

Thanks in advance,

Stophen.

I was gonna say probably injector seals but if you have done them already I would re check your injectors and fitttings again , steel pipes I would say they prob won’t crack

Thanks @Gaz0000000,

The fumes defiantly seem to be coming from behind the engine block so I think the injectors seals are ok.. I assume if the injectors were the case I would see the smoke coming directly off them..?

I was wondering if the smoke could be coming from the ERG to exhaust manifold tube?

My car did get stuck in a flood earlier in the year so maybe something has started to rot through.

Is there any tests you know that I can perform to either confirm or rule out faults (either manual or electrical)?

Cheers, Stophen.
