Steering Assist malfunction -recommendations

Featured Replies

I have a 2011 Ford Focus with a steering assist malfunction so not drivable without he man strength!

It's been sat on my drive in West London since the start of lockdown. I've worked all through so not been able to search for a garage and get it fixed.

Can anyone recommend a garage in the W3 area that I can take it too that won't cost the earth and that has experience of solving the problem?

Have you charged the battery or replaced it if its dead? The power steering is electric on these and can throw up faults if the battery is low, which seems likely if the car has been standing for a while.

If it needs a new steering rack the Ford original is more than £1000 plus fitting, with refurbished units available for about half that amount.

Hi.. Thanks for the reply...

The car runs fine and I've driven it in and out of the drive a few times so battery working ok. It has given the codes (cant remember them as was done in March) for the electric unit being the problem.

I've searched online and seen ford will cost me around £1000 And also the refurbished option.

I'm at the point I need the car up and running so now trying to find someone that's done this work before in the area that I can get it done as cheaply as possible.

I'm at the point of ditching the car. It's driving me loopy!
