Focus mk3 instrument cluster

Featured Replies

Hi was wondering if anyone can advise me i have a focus mk3 2013 1.6tdci econetic and the instrument cluster has stopped working no lights no gauges completely dead car starts and runs fine dose anyone know how to bench test the cluster any advice much appreciated Thanks

The Focus MK3/MK3.5 instrument cluster only has a permanent 12 Volt Power supply. There is no ignition switched 12 Volt power supply. The status of the ignition switch (or START button) is communicated to the instrument cluster by the CANbus network. The instrument cluster only switches itself ON if a valid CANbus "ignition ON" message is received.

Bench testing a Focus MK3/MK3.5 instrument cluster requires CANbus simulation. Without a valid CANbus signal the instrument cluster will never switch itself ON.
