Start Stop and battery

Featured Replies

I expect this topic gets raised all the time.

The auto start stop feature hasn't worked on my 2014 focus estate for about 18 months. Shortly after this stopped working, it was odd that I could no longer start the car normally with just pressing the clutch. I now have to press accelerator and clutch. Sometimes it will not start first time but always the second time. If I leave the ignition on for 1 minute before trying to fire up, it seems to work ok.

I thought this may be the battery but I would have thought after a winter and by now, it would have given up totally.

Has anyone else had this issue. Is it all related to battery and that's how AGM batteries play up when they start to fail. I would of expected more start issues by now.

Could be another electrical fault maybe

If you can't start the vehicle by just using the clutch I wonder if the clutch pedal position sensor has failed? Using the brake and clutch together is a backup method to get the vehicle started

Try this worked for mine !!!! Ignition on for 10 secs, press rear foglight switch 5 times, press hazzard switch 3 times, wait 10 secs. Battery light flashes. Ign off

Not thought of that but would that also explain the auto start stop not working as both issues started at same time. Thanks

Thanks. Have tried that a few times but makes no difference unfortunately.
