Looking for a 'geek' on can I remove Locky registry entry?

In my laptop registry, I have the infamous 'Locky' key. I have run numerous scans including Malwarebytes etc, but it still resists being removed. Is it safe enough for me to simply 'delete' it using the registry own edit function?

First I would put your computer OS, into safe mode then run all your virus scanners from there.  Make sure you have definitely removed all of the 'locky' program from the programs app under control panel, even run MRT from the command interface to check for malicious junk, at that point I would Reckon your be fine to delete the resistery entry.

It's seems to be just a rememant from an badly uninstalled program.

Many thanks for your response. After more extensive 'googling' I have learned that a program I installed, 'Bitdefender Anti Ransomeware', creates this entry as a sort of 'vaccine' against genuine infection! (I have no idea how it works!) One forum said:-

"According to several users commenting here, Bitdefender Crypto-Ransomware Vaccine will create the HKCU\Software\Locky\ entry..."

So now feel much easier now seeing it - I discovered it in my desktop, and partners laptop too as I have installed Bitdefender in all!
