Mk4 fogged windscreen

Recommended Posts

1st summer with the car. Also 1st car I’ve had with heated windscreen..which is great in winter.
Got caught in really heavy summer downpour there. Steamed up like crazy. Put blowers on full blast , which didn’t clear it as fast as I’d have liked.
put the heated windscreen on. Cleared up. What’s the consensus on that ? Blowers or heated windscreen?

I'd always use the heated screen for interior mist, much quicker...

BUT it really rinses battery voltage, so probably best to stick to blowers on a short journey.

If you do use the blowers, you really want the AC on, but that's not ideal on a short journey either...  It's a more complicated question than it seems!

Aircon if it is steaming up on the inside. Putting the Heated Screen on will just turn it from a liquid to a gas, it doesn't make it go away and unless it is purged from the interior it will condense somewhere else like the side windows.

Absolutely spotless clean windows will also help. Microscopic moisture droplets attach to the dirt and dust on the inside of the screen causing the fogging.

Getting it spotless is another story altogether.

Do you have recirculation on?  That will keep moisture in

Wasn’t on. But good logic. Manual says

I can vouch for this, my previous car (non ford) was forever misting up on the windows, a real good scrub with a glass cleaner did wonders, but as said it hard to get it spotless.
