Kerbed steel rim

Hi

I know nobody has steel rims + plastic trims, they're totally boring but I could do with some help on mine.

Here in yorkshire we have some country lanes with stone kerbs.. the missus (not me honest) has managed to do (see pic) to one of the rims.

The MOT is due in a couple of weeks and am guessing it will fail.

Can damage like this be repaired or do I need to bite the bullet and replace the rim do you reckon?

Thanks

I doubt that'll fail, it's still holding air isn't it?  Just be advised for 'distorted bead rim'.

Whack a plastic trim on it and they might not even notice...

Yes it's still holding air. I've driven it to '70' to see if it causes any vibration, but seems okay.

The trim got knocked off the wheel in the impact. Tweaking the trim might be the best idea really 🙂

If that wAs mine I would get a hammer on it or even try bending it with molegrips. Doesn’t look like an obvious fail to me. I too have steel rims with plastic trims. If that was an alloy wheel it may well have been damaged beyond use/ repair

That's not an mot fail. That will tap back easy enough with a hammer

steel rims are easy to repair, simply with a hammer , me too have steel rims, every now and then when i get my tires balanced at the tire shop the guy notice a slight bend in a rim or two, the guy simply hammer it and it returns as if nothing happened , he is professional though, but really its easy to repair and it will give you ( zero ) on the tire balancing machine 🙂 , steel rims are ugly I know 😄 , but dependable and easy to repair 🙂
