idleing problem

My 1986 MK4 Escort has developed an idleing issue, for a while the tickover was very unsteady with a rise and fall, now it wont tickover at all and cuts out unless the throttle is held open

I suspect the anti run on valve solenoid is faulty but don't seem able to source a replacement, anyone any thoughts about this issue and where I might find a new one? regards Kenn
