Hi,

I have a 2018 Mondeo ST line X 2.0 diesel Auto AWD.
when I accelerate there is a vibration when the AWD kicks in. Surely this isn’t normal. I’ve not experienced it my parents 2014 Kuga.
anyone got any ideas.

Oh man I had this on an edge and it ended up opening a can of worms, ended up replacing the transmission, dual mass flywheel, transfer box and rear differential. It cured it in the end 😂 I worked backwards on that vehicle I think so it was the transmission and dual mass that fixed it. It transfers the vibration down through all the components. And for some strange reason only does it when the AWD engages.

The transfer boxes usually have black dirty oil in with swarf so can be changed under warranty pretty easily.

Hope this helps a bit

Thanks for that. Much appreciated. I’ll get it booked in tomorrow.

I'd let them see what they think first, at the end of the day the dealer will have to go through the correct warranty procedure first as Ford are paying for the repair. If it becomes apparent they don't really know what to do with it then suggest what I have found on an Edge as it's the same set up.

Hope it gets sorted 👍

That means their regular technicians don't have a scooby in terms of diagnosing the issue.  It's under warranty so I wouldn't worry about it, it's their problem, just keep on at them until it fixed to your satisfaction.
