Keeps cutting out

for the last six months I have had this issue - it begins to stutter then loss of power and finally I have to stop. Indicator is "Engine service now" with the engine icon.

initially called breakdown but when they arrived their diagnostics could not find a fault listed. after an hour restarted the engine and all appeared ok. After calling the breakdown service twice now I have learned to wait 30 mins and restart - it always seems ok. But I cannot go on like this! I took it into a garage and they could not find anything wrong. I think it is something to do with getting hot or vibration that eventually causes this to occur.

Any assistance would be much appreciated - this have to be the worst car I have ever owned...

           Is it going into limp mode because you do a lot of short journies and the dpf filter is blocking up? Had this witha a diesel  citroen. I put  dpf cleaner in fuel tank and gave it a half hour run at higher revs . This seemed to solve the problem
