I posted a few days ago to find out when my timing belt needs replacing. I was given info indicating 8 years old if mileage is low. I think mine is the mk 3 and has 24000 miles on the clock. My regular garage has shut down so I need to take it somewhere new. So that I know what needs changing alongside the cam belt, can anyone let me know what to go for. Is there an auxilliary belt ? tensioner etc. I'm not sure if the water pump runs from the cam belt. Any help will be greatfully received.

Every car has an aux belt (sometimes two). I'm not 100% on the 1.6 petrol, but on some cars if the aux belt fails, it's got a high chance of taking the timing belt with it. Deffo worth doing for the sake of £20. It'll be just as worn as the cambelt after this many years.

The rest of this was answered in your previous post here. You never replied to say which engine you have so was assumed to be the 1.6 NA...
