markio1988
Hi there, I have a cracked water pump on a 2017 Ford Fiesta 1.25 zetch... took it to the garage yesterday and he said that the cam belt would have to be changed as well. I know that sometimes when you get a cam belt changed they recommend the water pump to be replaced too but is it the same the other way round? He also quoted £611. some advice would be greatly appreciated, cheers guys
st line x 140 driver
You have to remove timing belt to remove water pump as timing belt tensioner is attached to pump. Will need new timing belt, tensioner bearing, water pump plus gasket rocker cover gasket plus fan belt. So price quoted sounds right. DieselPig
Price is an absolute ripoff. Shop around you should get an independent quote for £350. Or do it yourself, cost me £150 in parts and 2 hours labour.
Luke4efc
The waterpump is driven by the aux belt, but it's bolted to the engine from behind the cambelt. You don't need to replace the cambelt, but as said its being removed for the waterpump replacement. An extra £30 for a replacement cambelt and tensioner just means you'll get a few more years before needing to do it again.
