I agree, although there are charts that show the number of deaths with the number that were directly or indirectly caused because of Covid shown in a different colour. I haven't came across any that show the other contagious disease deaths or the other Notifiable Disease deaths, most of which are contagious also, therefore are preventable to a certain extent where the disease has identifiable symptoms. 聽

I also agree, but with the NHS shutting down service as normal because of Covid, I fear that numerous other cases of preventable cancer & heart deaths will soon dwarf the total of Covid deaths. In the last year I have had several 'follow up' cancer checks simply cancelled, in addition, I had a pre op assessment carried out for an outstanding operation which from experience means they are ready to take you in the next 6 to 8 weeks, that was 8 months ago... When the government screw things up, they really do it on a very grand scale!

Eric Bloodaxe
Yes, it now seems that Covid is becoming regarded as endemic, so we are just going to have to live with it. You cannot hide from every potential risk in life, you need to take on personal responsibility, and manage your own risk. (The vulnerable are obvious exceptions who need additional protection) Very true, but there's also an element of taking some responsibility for other people too. Such as when you're out on the roads using and defensive driving techniques, assuming that the other person is going to make a mistake so trying to anticipate that. Came in handy yesterday when I was driving down the dual carriageway at 70mph and someone decided to pull out in front of me. Thanks. At some point we're likely to reach a balance with more effective vaccines and natural immunity which would allow us to treat coronavirus with a bit more disdain, but I don't think we're there yet. There are a few potentially vulnerable people in my circle and I'd prefer not to pass too many nasties onto them just yet. Which, of course, is only exacerbated since we've been inside so much and lost some of the immunities that we normally get being exposed to everyday diseases. Kind of a Catch 22. 50 minutes ago, StephenFord said: I do take risks, there have been times I have eaten an After Eight, and it's barely gone 6pm 馃ぃ You should be fine, but government guidelines suggest you change all the clocks, just in case聽馃檪
