Hi,

The vehicle in question might help us...

Also, maybe a pic of the rear lights!

If you are feeling brave, remove the bulb and have a look 😉

Aren't all focus's the same at the back (hatchback)? Not sure how a picture will help

Clear or Red lens, if a clear lens then a Red bulb, if a Red lens then a clear bulb.

No mate, 2009 1.8 tdci

Your profile says 2007 ST, hence why you were getting half assed responses.

Yeah I have an ST, my son as a 2009 Focus 1.8 tdci. I just assumed the bulbs were the same between the mk2 and 2.5

You know the saying, to assume makes an ***** out of U and ME 🙂

It's more the difference between a facelift ST and normal Focus. As said the ST & RS have LED tailights with a full clear lens.

I have had a look this morning and its clear lenses it has got, its a 2009 Focus 1.8 Zetec S. The bulbs are looking a bit orangey so guessing it needs red bulbs

my 2008 one (with the light lenses all mk 2 started life with) has:

orange indicators with offset pins so std clear ones won't fit

clear conventional brake light bulbs

sounds like the facelift light units moved to coloured brake light bulbs?

2008 must be a late PFL.  My facelift was built in Feb 08.

But yeah, as you suggest, facelift lenses are all clear with red bulbs (and annoying offset pins).

STs or anything with optional LED lights (came as pack with xenon's) had single filament bulbs, everything else had dual filament.

The optional LED lights did in fact also have dual filament bulbs. On these bulbs only the 5 Watt filament is used.

Are you sure about that?  I ended up with the wrong one as I didn't even know I had LED lights at the time.  Halfords sell both, 780 is dual filament, 782 is single filament.  (Think Halfords are UK only though)

Also, brake bulbs would only use the 21w filament...5w is for the tail lights that are replaced with LED.  Are you alright Wilco?

I am quite sure that Ford used a dual filament bulb and only used 1 of the filaments. Back in the days it was a well known modification to connect the 2nd filamen in parallel to the tail lights and have both the LED and the bulb illuminating.

You are however correct that the 21 Watt filament is used and not the 5 Watt filament.
