patja
Replaced the tie rod ends on my Focus recently but still have an occasional single knock on the drivers side when turning at slow speeds. Going to remove the tie rod end tomorrow and look for play on the inner. But I think that's the culprit. Are these difficult to change on the Focus? Anything I should know? I had a look at the Haynes manual and there's no guide for doing the inners? I checked a couple of other Haynes manuals I have here (Renault, Vauxhall) and they do provide a guide for those models. Has me slightly concerned! Any advice/tips/knowledge on doing these on the Focus appreciated.
F0CUE
Best vid I could find but pretty much the same and you get several different versions of tools online to grab the round area once the boot is removed. It will require an alignment afterwards.
stef123
Play on the inner can be easily detected without taking anything apart. they are pretty straight forward to replace, the only issue you would likely come across is lack of access.
patja
Thanks a lot for those responses F0CUE and and stef123 👍 I didn't get to have a look at it yet but should do tomorrow.
