Ford Focus Mk2 Removing Headlight Connector

Featured Replies

Hi Guys

I'm trying to remove one of my headlights. I could get the unit out but could not get the connector for the wiring loom off the headlight. I've watched some YouTube videos and he pulls the connector off easily. I tried pushing a screwdriver into the tab but that did not work, it was still stuck fast. What am I doing wrong? Is there a particular technique to it?

Thanks

Yeh the MK2 one is very stiff I wouldn't jam screwdrivers in it as the plastic is very brittle just grab the edges and as above wiggle it until it gets loose.

Well, I've left the headlight until now, but the condensation problem is getting worse, so I need to try and get this wiring loom off the headlight again (Mk2 Focus).

Before I try the suggested wiggling, are there best places to be gripping the connector, e.g. top and bottom, or left and right?

Also, I don't want to do any damage to the loom. How much damage is it possible to do? Is there any tab I could snap off if I use too much force? Is there any mechanism that holds the connector on, or is it just pull off (without needing any special technique?)

Thanks

It's a matter of pushing the tab and pulling from the edges at the same time.
