Nimrodmk8
Driving home tonight the weather was misty and getting dark, the collision sensor flashed up saying sensor or camera is blocked, it's happened before on a foggy day, is that normal. I seem to average 43.3 MPG now it's the winter, is that about average for the 1.5 Ecoboost, thanks
Tizer
The sensor is behind the rear view mirror unless you have adaptive cruise control, so misty weather can cause that problem, especially if your wipers are not on very much when driving in that type of weather. 43 mpg is what I'm getting with my 1.5 just now, and I wouldn't expect more at this time of year unless I was doing a lot of long journeys/
MarkRS9
I've had this flash up a couple of times in foggy weather, seems to be normal. Your mpg seems good to me I'm getting 44 average in my 2.0 diesel.
Alex.S
Had the car 18months. Had that warning once. Last winter. That’s when I realised the difference between radar and lidar. I don’t have the adaptive cruise control so no radar. Not sure if it was ice or what but cleaned the windscreen ...sorted. ive driven through heavy fog a few times without a warning.

Mines a 1.5 182. Only do short journeys but 33mpg is my long term average. Motorway journeys are much better but 43 is even higher than the Ford estimates!

Not doing many long journeys now for obvious reasons but the roads here are much quieter for the same reasons so not having to stop as much as usual.
Alex.S
I’ve seen other 182 owners post/complain about 33 mpg. I’ve also seen posts about the 150ps and 182ps engines being basically the same. I’m definitely not heavy on the accelerator. 10mpg difference is substantial. Costing me a fortune too!

Mine has a manual gearbox so that might account for a few mpg, but not 10. I use Normal mode in town and usually put it into Sport when I get out of town. I do tend to take routes with few stops even though they are usually longer.

The official Ford figures have automatics at slightly better mpg than manuals. (If I remember correctly) Sport mode in the 182 can be expensive!
TomsFocus
It's probably journey length making the most difference. Current average on my 2.0 TDI is only 47mpg due to filling up just into Tier 4 and now lockdown...it's never been that low before in the last 2.5 years! Not a good comparison as I only did a few miles in each, but I wasn't impressed with the 1.5EB 150ps MPG...only averaged about 32mpg doing exactly the same journey as the 2.0 TSI DSG Leon that managed 37mpg... And doing the same journey in the 2.0 TDI Golf saw 48mpg which I'd expect compared to the Leon. Problem is, I'm still mentally comparing engine size rather than power... My 2.0 Mk6 Fiesta ST averaged 33mpg easily, but of course it was only 150bhp. So I suppose there is about the same amount of fuel being forced into the turbo'd 1.5 to make the same power... (Heavier car as well of course) So on that note, it will be interesting to see how much the 1.0 MHEV manages when I get it...seeing as it'll be 155bhp suggesting possibly the same or more fuel than the 1.5 150...but being MHEV should theoretically reduce he consumption slightly...

The recent cold weather will have made a massive difference to the fuel consumption, especially if the car had to be defrosted before driving so it is difficult to make comparisons.

All 3 were done within a couple of weeks during Dec so should be fairly close in terms of temp. No defrosting needed on any of them as it was mid afternoon. I keep MPG spreadsheets for the Golf so can see what that usually does in winter each year...
StephenFord
Apologies for being well off course on the OP, but my old banger of a 2005 Mk2 has decidedly poor MPG on a measly 1.6 petrol engine! I average 30MPG, sometimes stretching 33MPG on a long trip. I drive the opposite to a 'boy racer', though admit to having been that boy in the past. When I see folk on here getting 40+MPG on a decent powerful engine, I'm just full of envy..

If I reset the average mpg , do 20 miles + on the motorway it’s up at well over 40mpg. First few months having the car it was a steady 29mpg !
