Hi everyone do any of you no what the bolt thing lol up from the driver checkstrap plus they got one in the passenger front side too cheers all

I believe it's for crash, to control the deformation of the doors on major frontal impact (so they don't pop basically)

Hmm, crash deformation! Unlikely.

I'm pretty sure that is the switch pedestal for your door courtesy switches. You can adjust the depth it contacts with the door.

Anyone else got a better answer?

Yes, a better answer is, it really is for crash and the courtesy lights are controlled by the sensors in the latch.

You can remove them if you don't believe me, your risk.

The more the car buckles, the more the pin/stud pushes into the door to prevent the car from buckling further in that place sending the force of the impact away from the cockpit.

Cortinas had pin switches on the A posts for courtesy lights

Hi Dave thanks for your help i did find out the switch for interior light is in the door latch on mk2.5 i put the post up of that bolt cos I wanted to see if it was a earth cable connected to the back of it cheers
