S70ENR
I’ve got a 2006 2.0L TDCI Focus (136) Titanium and I’m looking for some advice on fitting a solid flywheel conversion kit. Thanks

Thanks You'll be lucky mate. I cant' remember the last time I saw a thread about converting to a SMF. It's generally not considered to be a good idea on diesels due to the increased torque and vibrations generated by diesel engines. The DMF is there for a reason, to handle the torque and damp the engine vibrations. A know a couple of taxi drivers that converted their Octavia TDi's and the vibrations that were transferring into the cabin was horrendous. 1 car was changed back to a DMF within 1 month and the other suffered a gearbox failure within 4 months.
Botus
terrible idea only done by mechanically inept idiots - the dual mass fly wheel is a torsional vibration damper at worse the crank will just snap in half (not a usual occurrence on a tractor engine as they are so nasty it tends to be strong enough) but all the stress and vibration the DMF was supposed to absorb gets transferred to everything else and that wasn't designed to cope and doesn't
pragmatix
Super idea, why didn't Ford think of it?
