LUKAS1972
Hi, My fiesta had a misfire on cylinder 3, after investigation, air is escaping through exhaust valve. Head needs to come off to diagnose the faulty valve so means changing all the belts, head skim and new headbolts etc. My query is the car is only 5 years old, 55k miles and been regularly serviced with correct oils and intervals. Is there a known issue with this engine for sticking valves or am I just unlucky? Also do these engines have hydraulic lifts or mechanical? Thanks,
Aldridge Andy
Does it have a full Ford main dealer service history? You might be lucky and get a goodwill contribution if you shout loud enough.
Luke4efc
I very much doubt Ford would give you a goodwill gesture at 5 years old and above average mileage. The 1.25 engine is generally pretty reliable, it's been around for donkeys years now. I think you've just been unlucky I'm afraid
LUKAS1972
I think Ford wouldn't care if it is outside their warranty, just an £850 bill I didn't need under the current climate. Just unlucky. As MOT was due aswell I couldn't do it myself as would have no way of getting to the MOT station if MOT Expired. Cost includes the cambelt, water pump and a service, most of the cost is labour.

You can drive it no problem to a pre-booked MOT appointment even if it has expired, for future reference.
