2007 Focus Message display scrolling/mode switch sticking

Hi guys,

The message LCD on my 2007 Ford Focus, seems to be continuously scrolling, unless the Menu button is held down. The Code it’s producing is “A286 Mode Switch Sticking”. I’ve tried changing the stalk, and have just had the instrument cluster rebuilt (for a different fault) and double checked and no more faults there... any ideas what may be causing this? 
 

car is running fine otherwise...
