Mk1 zetec-se 1.6 acceleration waving

Hi, i have a mk1 focus with the 1.6 zetec-se gas engine and i've stumbled across an issue with the acceleration - while reving between 2000 to 3000 rpm the engine won't hold the rpm, it will reach it then slowly drop even though i'm holding the gas pedal ( talking about stationary reving ). While driving, let's say in 3rd gear, doing the exact same circumstances will result in a forth and back waving of the car, like it's accelerating for a moment then it drops and it does this progressively worse. This does not happen if not in the 2000-3000 rpm range.

I have checked the throttle valve and it's not muddy. Anyone else have encountered this issue? Could be a sensor? Could be the fuel pump? What would you suggest, thank you!

Have you looked for trouble codes using Ford specific software?
